Aldoga Solar Farm proposal
The Aldoga Solar Farm is a renewable energy project located in the Gladstone Region, approximately 20 kilometres to the northwest of Gladstone city.
Construction of the generating plant started in March 2024 and infrastructure testing is due to start in 2025. To operate the plant, the applicant, Aldoga Solar Farm Pty Ltd, must have a generation authority.
We are inviting feedback on this application to connect the generating plant to a transmission network.
The connection will be via the Larcom Creek Switching Station and have a maximum export capacity of 387MW.
Submissions will close at 5pm on 12 February 2025. Any submissions that are lodged after this time will not be considered.
Permission requirements
Unless the infrastructure is to be located wholly on land the applicants own or lease, the operator must apply to Queensland Treasury and be granted a generation authority under 179 of the Electricity Act 1994.
We must then seek feedback on the application from the public, including people who might be affected by or interested in the project.
Once feedback and other relevant matters have been considered, we will decide whether to issue a generation authority to the applicant to proceed with the proposed electricity generation activity.
Have your say
We are seeking feedback from the public about the application to assess:
- the suitability of
- the applicants to hold a generation authority
- the owner (also the applicants) to be the owner
- other matters to be considered under section 180 of the Act.
Read the information paper (PDF, 258KB) to learn more about the application.
